Charlie’s Challenge Fundraiser – 2024

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the 2024 edition of Charlie’s Challenge! We appreciate all of the donors, volunteers, & attendees who made the event a success!

Your generosity allows us to keep helping our neighbors. Last year we served 273 families and expended $67,506.72. We could not have done this without your support– thank you from us and from the neighbors you helped.

All donations are welcome and appreciated. You can give online, or mail your gift to:
Mountain Projects
154 Medical Park Loop
Sylva, NC 28779
Checks should be payable to “Mountain Projects, Inc.” with “JNIN” written on the memo line.

With appreciation,

Mission

The mission of Jackson Neighbors In Need is to provide assistance to Jackson County residents who do not qualify for assistance from other agencies.

Our mission is accomplished in the following ways:

Heating Assistance

We provide heating assistance for those in need, during the cold winter months from November 1st to March 31st. We will pay the vendor for electricity, propane, oil and/or wood. We also provide space heaters when needed.

“Bump in the Road” Emergency Fund

This fund assists residents who encounter small economic challenges that they are unable to afford.

Hands On Jackson — “Day Of Caring”

We help sponsor this annual Day Of Caring for residents of Jackson County who are in need of assistance with small home repair projects, building a ramp and/or yard cleaning.

Annual Blanket Drive

Blankets are available for people in need starting in December. They are available for pickup at the Department on Aging, Department of Social Services, Sylva’s Mountain Projects office, and the Jackson County Public Library.
