Need Help?

Jackson Neighbors in Need has been helping those who do not qualify for assistance from other agencies since 2009. We provide a cold-weather heating assistance program; we have an emergency fund to help community members with small economic challenges; we give away blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, and other warm items, as well as space heaters; and we contribute to the Hands on Jackson day of caring.

Heating Assistance: Available from November 1 to March 31. We can help with electricity bills, propane, kerosene, heating oil, and firewood. People requesting assistance must live in Jackson County, and must have a cutoff notice for power bills.

‘Bump in the Road’ Emergency Fund: Available year-round. We can help with small emergency needs like medication, minor car repairs, and household basics.

Blanket Distribution: Blankets and warm items are generally available from December through March, with distribution sites including the Jackson County Public Library, Department on Aging, and Mountain Projects.
